As this was The Year of Ritz, it was only natural we had some overlooked runners in D2. Kurtis Marlowe was one of them. His 15:02 was the D2 record for many years. He later went onto run for NC State, which at the time was a powerhouse on the men’s side. Tim Ross won the state title the following year and qualified for Footlocker as well that year. Adam Ludwig was also a Footlocker qualifier in 2001.
I see a young Jared Kelsh in here, running for Chippewa Hills before he became Ferris State’s coach.
It looks like it was a pretty close battle between Big Rapids and St. Clair, the difference coming between Big Rapids’ 5th at 16:41 and the Saints’ final scorer at 16:47.
