The Rundown

I love Shannon’s story – quickening during seasons, quickening between seasons, disappointment, and ultimately, redemption. Her career began as a freshman on a superb Okemos team, a pack that came together towards the end of the year, partially because of her learning of the terrain. Where her freshman year began in the 23’s, it ended in the 19’s, placing 15th at Regionals as Okemos’ 3rd girl. Her sophomore year started as her freshman year finished, but the championship season much different, Okemos on the losing side of a 4-team battle for 3rd. But girl’s tables turned once again last year, helping Okemos win a duel against TCW to gain the Region 2 victory.

Shannon’s efforts were key in last season. Multiple sub-19’s, top-10’s in major races, and she knocked nearly a minute off her previous best. At MIS, she was 32nd, narrowly missing the podium, but one may look to that season-to-season improvement, as an 11:03 during track is evidence that she’s got more to accomplish.
