The Rundown

Finishing off a sophomore cross season that was trending upward, kicking into a 2nd place finish. That was a minor shock.

Giving Riley Hough everything he can handle in the final stretches of the Division 1 1600m. What if he actually pulled the upset?

Trading blow for blow with Benne Anderson down the final straight of MIS, succumbing in the final meters. Will the running gods ever rule in his favor, will he ever win one?

This spring’s Division 1 3200m was an assertive and resounding YES. Seth patiently bided his time early, slowly working toward grabbing the lead at 800m. When he moved into first, he moved into first for good, extending his lead throughout the whole race, finishing in 9:04, 8 seconds clear of any competitor. After many heartbreaks, his first State Title.

That title only added to a career full of greatness. Earlier in the spring, his 8:46 in the Bluejay Elite 3200m earned him the #6 time throughout all of Michigan HS history. He’s won a ton, sweeping the OK Red and Regional distance events, both on the white line and around the oval. He’s helped his Grand Haven team on their way to a state podium, running 1:52 on the anchor to grab 2nd place. Competing against the entire country, he placed 16th at CHAMPS Nationals, the 7th fastest returner (Alford 5th).

His 3200m crown in track was a weight off his back, now one final crack at a XC title remains.
