Lucas Gates

Huge rise through the regional rankings thanks to an astounding final month on the track. Three 3200m efforts in the very low-10’s, then finally a breakthrough at State with a 9:57 and 16th place finish.

Julian Walker

The top returner from last year and twice top-10 here at the regional level. Battled the Possum Hollow hills one week and then dropped nearly 1.5 minutes the next week at MIS.

Everett Beach

Another young Cougar who had a breakout track campaign. His 10:10 over eight laps ranked #8 amongst all D3 freshmen.

Kenneth Mangles

Had some shining moments during his freshman year, with mid-17 efforts at Portage and the Cascades Conference Championship. His 18:35 here wasn’t his quickest, but you can’t be too displeased with a top-5 regional finish.

William Gancer

Another freshman with no shame in a big race. Prediction was 11th, he tore that to shreds with a 4th place finish.

Isabelle Currie

Another exception to my freshman writeup rule. All wins last year, the last one the most important. Jr. Greater Lansing is always a predictor of future glory and she won that by 10+ seconds.

Grace Wonch

Fitness from track should pay dividends for XC. Competed in all sorts of events, but the one that stuck the most was surely the 800m, where a 2:21 was good enough to get on the D3 podium.

Haley Creisher

A sleeper to do some big things this fall. Mastered the four lap distance this spring, her first track voyage for the Blackhawks. 5:40’s became 5:30’s, then 5:20’s, then a 5:16 stepped her up to 10th in D3.

Frances Melinn

After a month of suffering through 21 min.+ races, came through with a huuuge race at State, 19:39 earning her a 37th place finish. For context, coming into the race, she was projected to be 61st.

Libby Schuster

Moves over from Region 27, where she raced to an 8th place finish.

Reagan Lees

Four of her final five freshman performances were in the 20’s. Lone exception was here, though in a 2nd place finish.
