Julian Walker, Algonac
The ‘Skrats make their home at a few places: their HS course, Columbus County Park, and here at Goodells. Over the years, this has been a special place for Julian. His first jaunt into the 16’s was here in 2022, where he nailed a 16:48. Coming into this season, Goodells was still the home of his personal best, until yesterday’s 16:46. A 30+ sec. season best and his lowest finish at this invite.
Samantha Whitlam, Macomb Lutheran North
The Mustangs are making their way toward being a favorite in Region 17 and Sam has played a major role in that. She’s been under 21:00 on five separate occasions, a mark she hadn’t even hit by this time last season. Her 20:17 yesterday was nearly a personal best. As the temperatures cool, expect the times to drop further. And I hate to look forward to track, but combine her speed with this added endurance…
