Top Returners

Logan Begeman

In front of the whole state at Portage, he put it all together, and things kept getting better and better from there. 16:04 at his home course was a 30 sec. PB and led the way toward multiple sub-16’s and an All-State.

Nick Cabrera

Season contained more than a handful of sub-17 efforts, which seemed to all coincide with major meets. Regionals, Portage, Otsego Bulldog, and his 16:24 to close at Shepherd.

Owen Gifford

Highly touted freshman lived up to the billing, a few times in cross with sub-17’s. Even more so in track, his 4:35 among the top-10 freshmen in Division 1.

Bruno Cabrera

His 16:54 at Otsego was one of two separate occasions under 17:00. Keep in mind that one year earlier, many of his finishes were 60+ seconds slower.

Abrar Hossen

Showed something in the mid-distance realm during track, popping a 2:00 late in the spring at Houseman Field.

Logan Westgate

Freshman slowly but surely dropped time throughout various points of the year. His last three races of his inaugural season were his best, all sub-17:45. Though to me, the real showstopper was his track season, especially his 1600m, ranking 31^st amongst all D1 freshman with his 4:44.

Matthew Long

I wouldn’t expect anything less from this coach’s son. Consistency! Try to find the bad race in his season, I dare you. 17:30 to 17:50 all throughout, with one minor hiccup.

Cannon Crowe

Went from a kid running above 19:00 as a freshman to someone who was on the cusp of slipping under 17:00 as a sophomore.

Potential Newcomers

Savyon Greynolds

Reached down as far as 11:29 to place 6^th in the KAMSL.

Tristan Zhang

Sub-12 in three of his final four races, then sub-5 on the track to end the season.

Top Returners

Cassie Garcia

After moving into the 18’s late in her freshman year, she was there for a good bit of her sophomore year. But most importantly, she was there when it matters – such as her 18:54 to place 2^nd in Region 6 and her 18:38 that netted Cassie a 15^th place in Division 1.

Ella Christensen

Battled injury throughout much of the season and still found it in her to win Region 6 and place All-State. Toughness further exemplified in track, running 2:15

Molly Kate Coates

Rode the wave of mid to low-20’s throughout much of her freshman year, an admirable feat. She truly kicked it up a notch in track, her season culminating in outstanding races such as her 5:23 in the driving rain in Region 6.

Lily Connors

Look to her 3200m in track as evidence of her ability to contribute. A 12:01 at Golden Triangle may set up for an XC season that can consistently be in the 19’s.

Rosie Gregory

Was the star of Northville’s 2021 State Finals, running a nearly 30 sec. PB to help the Mustangs place fourth. It took her awhile, but she was able to best that low-20 effort at 2022’s Regionals, breaking 20:00 for the first time ever.

Sammi Gale

Freshman year was a model in getting better each and every race. And what was the end result? A girl who finished in the 20’s her final four races of the year and was able to compete for the varsity squad at MIS. Pretty good for barely being sub-23 in her opener.

Annabelle Beloiu

Loads of potential that begun to see its realization during the track season, with times such as 5:31 and 12:20.

Potential Newcomers

Colette Lozo

The pipeline continues! She took her talents up to Shepherd for the MEGASTAR meet, where she was 15^th in the 1600m.

Julia Crowe

Look for her to be on some Northville 4×4’s, running mid-60’s for a single lap. But first, a cross season to build strength, which she may have plenty of, if her 12:45 is any indication.

The Rundown

Talk about a kid who can get it done at all levels. In conference meets? Five wins in six jamborees/championships. Region 24? Winner in 2021 and 2^nd place in 2022. The State Finals? Two All-States in two tries. What about on the track? Well, he only picked up three (!) medals at Kent City in early June. Collin Farmer is a guy with experience on the biggest stages. Sometimes that experience isn’t the greatest – I don’t think his XC State Finals were the fastest he was capable of (and that was proven with a PB at Shepherd the following week). But through the average experiences and the good, Collin keeps rolling and has placed himself in contention for the ultimate prize, coming across the line first in Division 3 this fall.
