The Rundown

We should’ve seen it coming. Ratings in the mid-160’s as a freshman, breaking 18:00 multiple times. Having the #9 freshman 1600m time. Racing to the mid-16’s many times as a sophomore. But man, those 800’s sure came out of left field (2:14 to 1:56 in about one calendar year). Starting in his sophomore year of track and extending into this spring, Adam has been on a tear in the 2-lap event. Although he’s missed out on the D1 State podium, I think he’s set the record for most sub-1:57 performances in these last two seasons. He ain’t just a trackster either, also a steady mid-16 guy for a top-5 team in 2023.

How Adam raced in the 1600m may be a good predictor of this fall season. A slew of efforts in the low-4:20’s shows that he’s gained strength, if extrapolated to the 5k, the 15’s shouldn’t be out of the question. With the surrounding depth that Canton has to offer and high aspirations that they have as a group, Dicken should be pushed to his best fall yet.

Grayson Rorick

Along with two All-States on the grass, he’s concentrated on mid-distance on the oval. Rorick was a state qualifier this year via his win in Region 35.

Reece Poole

Has had a penchant for huge November performances – 5^th and 13^th the past two years.

Grant Johnson

Being a cross runner and mid-distance star is rare enough. What about being a mid-distance star that qualified in the 300h and 400m. Those are back-to-back events AND might be the two toughest ones.

Joel Lange

The man loves running and it was evident in his junior year, where he spent the majority of his races in the 17’s and had the highest placing he’s ever had at his championship meets.

James Rahe

Track saw massive PB’s for a kid used to stark improvements. Rahe’s 10:17 in the 3200m was nearly 50 sec. faster than his freshman best.

Henry Lindley

Henry was part of the 4^th-6^th man pack who sealed 2023’s title for the Colts. But he came from a place that made his impact a bit more unexpected, as he dropped a minute+ from his 2022 championship races.

Ryan Miller

Quickly acquitted to the high school cross scene, placing 13^th amongst all freshman at D4’s finals.

Landon Wilkins

Was right there with Miller in terms of freshman rankings, placing 16^th in the 9^th grade group at the State Finals.

Izzy Brooks

Hard to believe that Izzy is entering her senior year. Three years of high school running and she’s made her presence known in each of ‘em. Three podium finishes at MIS, a Lenawee County crown as a freshman, conference titles each of the past two years, and a regional title as a junior. During the spring, she added a bit of speed to her repertoire, nabbing PR’s in the 800m and 1600m. What’s in store for her going out party?

Ruth Brownlee

Track may end up being a great indicator of cross country honors. Ruth qualified for both the 1600m and 3200m, placing 12^th and 18^th respectively in each.

Haley Stimer

2023’s State Finals Projections had Haley placing 22^nd and her 13^th spot greatly exceeded those. I mean, a 10 sec. PR, even faster than Stockbridge? Haley showed up!

Ella Walton

In four years of competing at the high school level, Ella has never finished below 60^th at the State Finals.

Stephanie Hernandez

Gradually whittling down those track times, Stephanie subtracted 7 sec. from her 1600m best and 9 sec. in the 3200m. She was a mainstay in Lenawee Area championship meets, placing in the county, regional, and Cascades Conference meets.

Caroline Roberts

The Roberts tradition continues! Caroline just came off her best cross season yet, getting into the 20’s on two of her final three races.

The Rundown

When you enter the 2023 season as the #2 team in D2, right in the mix to hoist a trophy, you need all the contributions you can receive. The Eagles popped bottles in early November and Ellie was a big help.

Coming off a 19:29 close to her freshman fall and a spring that contained 5:30/12:00, Ellie was a definite contender for a varsity spot on her high-quality team. With an 18:51 opener at Benzie, she more than affirmed that she’d be a key member of a team with high aspirations. Ellie ran in the 18’s on over 60% of her remaining races, three of those being the OK White Championship, Region 11, and the State Finals, all of which that GR Christian won. As the seniors have now moved on, new leadership is needed and this junior has shown the tools necessary to be a frontrunner for the Eagles.
