Rylee fought through a tough year and comes back looking to reclaim her spot at the top of Division 3
After missing much of the final stretch of the track season, she gutted out a 4th place finish in the 1600m, a finish that speaks to her drive
Her career has been full of success, and that success started early:
As a freshman, she bolted into the 18’s early, nabbed an All-State spot, then garnered two Top 5 finishes in track
Her sophomore year resulted in further drops in cross, a state title, and then a 3200m PB during indoor
During the 2020 season, she reached down even further into the cross country bag with multiple sub-18 runs
Her race at MIS in November is well documented and remembered, and it should be for this reason – if she doesn’t finish, does Stockbridge finish 20th as a team or 2nd in terms of Academic All-State?
Her ability to sacrifice for the team will take her to great places in this sport
One has to marvel at Brett’s ability to consistently peak at the end of the year
As a freshman, he dipped down into the 17’s after beginning the year on the high side of 20:00
The same trend as a sophomore, with a clutch 35 sec. PB at the Willow regional (not the easiest course ever!)
And this past year, that trend paid off on the big stage with a 2nd place finish at CHSL, a regional victory, and his first All-State honor
The consistent times in those three races lands him on the list – one of the first listed so far to consistently run sub-16
He reached similar heights in track, especially in the 3200m, where his 9:37 narrowly missed a state qualifier
I hope that disappointment fuels his summer training and sets the bar even higher for his inevitable November awakening
