Abby was introduced to us early in 2018 with a 17:05 at the Orchard View Invite and hasn’t looked back since
She’s run 38 races in Michigan during her career and has emerged victorious in 37 of those
The only loss coming to a Zofia Dudek, FootLocker Champ that year
Speaking of FootLocker, Abby has qualified twice and in both appearances, placed 3rd
Her 2020 season was more of the same, incredible gaps, all victories, and capped with her 3rd consecutive state title
Track was hindered by a bit of a foot injury, but she was able to rebound and capture the Division 3 3200m title and even break 11:00 after only a few weeks of running
She races aggressively and with confidence, and I love the approach her coaches have taken, keeping it low key and not trying to squeeze out every bit of potential in her high school self – she will be a force in the sport for awhile
Riley just wins
I don’t know how, he doesn’t have the 400m speed, 800 PR, he just gets it done
In the D1 State 3200m, Baracco opened up a sizable gap with 600m to go and the race was still up in the air with 100m left (video)
At RunningLane, he was out of the picture in the mile, making up 4 sec. on the last lap to nab a victory in the final meters (video)
At MIS, he covered the final 173m in sub-4 pace to beat Hobbs Kessler
All of these were wins in championship races
He can lay down some times too, with multiple sub-15 cross efforts, an 8:56 3200m, and a 4:07 mile
If he puts in the work and stays healthy, is a real candidate to go sub-4
Riley has a great blend of humility and competitive fire, and I have no doubt he wants to cement his legacy in his senior year
