Top 27 Teams

Previous years had top-25 teams, but there’s 27 (and sometimes more) team qualifiers and what does it hurt to add another two?

Girls

None.

Boys

Yale (19th)

(If your team isn’t listed in the images above or the scores below, you probably don’t have five returners, at least on ol’ athletic.net. I’m sure many of these teams will fill out their rosters by late October)

Top Runners

Thought I’d give a review of some of the top returners in each region. Returners means no incoming freshman (you’ll get your days in the sun). If you’re on a top team or in the 50 Tickets and you’re projected highly here, you hit the jackpot! Yes, I’m writing a bit less than previous years, but I think I’ve learned my lesson in that I need to conserve energy and brainpower for all divisions and regions. Typically by August, I’m rushing to get these done. This time around, hopefully all regions get the same amount of coverage.

Eva Thompson, Croswell-Lexington

Took the momentum gained from a freshman year where she closed in the 19’s and brought it to her sophomore season. In that 10th grade year, won both this region and Thumb Area.

Brooklyn Khon, Armada

Has established herself as one of the better mid-distance runners in the area, winning the BWAC 400m and placing 3rd in Macomb County.

Morgan Newton, Croswell-Lexington

The second part of Cros-Lex’s two-headed monster, Morgan dropped nearly a minute from her sophomore best, then ran her best 3200m of her career during the spring.

Elizabeth Ambroggio, Warren Regina

Moved up in place during any championship race. 14th to champion in the CHSL, 24th to 6th here in Region 17.

Brianna Albers, Richmond

Whether in Division 3 or Division 2, this Blue Devil has qualified for State in all three of her high school years.

Kennedy Roskopp, Warren Regina

After 25+ races and a few close calls, Kennedy was finally able to slip under 20:00 at last year’s Muskrat Classic. Beyond that, she hit the mark once more and obtained another top-10 finish here.

Blake Ferguson, Yale

Blake was 3rd here last year and is the top returner. He’s done the work necessary to ensure crossing the line in first, evidenced by his multiple sub-10 3200m’s during track.

Brewer Snay, Macomb Lutheran North

It’s all in that track season. His 9:49 in the 3200m was nearly a minute faster than his sophomore best, and running that at Region 19 qualified him for State, where he placed 29th.

Giovanni Pardo-Keegan, Yale

Just completed the greatest track season of his career, dropping his 800m best by a whopping 9 seconds.

Acer Campbell, Yale

The Bulldogs’ 3rd runner for championship season, Acer nabbed top-10’s at both Thumb Area and Region 17, two years in a row for each.

Dylan Distelrath, St. Clair

With Coach Brenner moving on, it’s imperative that there’s a senior to look towards. Dylan might be a great guy for that role, inspirational too, having debuted in the 20’s and currently owning a personal best of 16:47.
