The plan is to go through these regionals in the same order that they were posted. Friday first, starting with regions with less divisions, working towards those with more.

They’ll be a basic show of the ratings and a runner that stepped up. I plan on working back on regional recaps after the season, I always love showcasing success and there will be amply opportunity (and the real factor – time) to do so. Those recaps will feature more teams and individuals.

If you’re a senior (or are a parent/coach of one) that qualified for State, send me a pic of you in your uniform, either running or not running. I want to use those pics in my State Finals graphics. Those that I don’t use in the graphics, I’ll use in the recap.

Natalie Meadows, Whitmore Lake: Natalie won her FIRST race of the year. What better time to do so? She’s gradually sped up as the season has moved on and looks to improve greatly on last year’s 110th place finish at MIS.

Damian DeFeyter, Dansville: Projected 11th, finished 8th in a season best time. Was Dansville’s 2nd best guy, along with Joe Kadluboski, they established enough of a gap on Novi Christian to grab that 3rd qualifying spot.

Where: Allendale HS, Allendale 

The Course: Flat with some tiny rollers in the back section.  Decent spectator course, should run pretty fair.  Watch out for the bees in the woods! 

What to Watch For:  GRAND HAVEN BOYS.  Probably the biggest darkhorse to upset the party next week.  They should make it through here, but look to see the margin between them and Rockford/Lowell.  Also good to see Seth Norder make his way up here.  A few birdies were in my ear this summer about his talent and we’re seeing that talent come to fruition.   

Cole Weston.  I said this summer that he may be one of the better seniors to never make it to MIS.  Lowell has consistently been a good team this year and Cole looks well-positioned to grab a top-15 spot. 

Allie Arnsman.  We saw it in track, we saw it last fall, she steps up when the lights are on.  She missed a good month there, but returned with a 18:21 at OK Red.   

Who wins the girls team title?  FHC is best through 4, Grand Haven through 5, but Rockford has the best 5-7 by a longshot.

Maggie Duba sacrificed her race at State to help Sarah Storey in a time of need.  There is no karma in running, well there damn well should be.  I hope she makes it back. 

I’ve been high on Spring Lake’s girls all season and I feel that not many others are.  They’re young and have been moving up the rankings all year, anxious to see if they have more moves in them. 

Grand Rapids Christian’s youthful boys.  Starting in late September, they’ve made a push to be included in D2’s elite.  St. Johns has showed they’re peaking too, can they both catch the Chelsea/Pinckney/Adrian’s of the world?
