Mylie’s story has been documented a few times here but it’s worth repeating (you never know who’s reading and how it could affect them)
She’s been around running her entire life and was a good middle school runner, but not outstanding
She made a decision before 8th grade track that she was going to dedicate herself to the sport and – IT’S PAID OFF
Mylie ran 21:14 at Benzie’s 2019 PROM (8th grade), then this past year, ran 19:27 on the same course
Her best performances came away from home – an 18:50 at Bluejay and a 19:06 on an unseasonably warm day at MIS
Her track season was rife with awards and accomplishments, among those a conference title, three All-States, AAU titles, and just recently, a 6th place finish at the Cherry Mile
Let’s start with TJ’s 10:06 at the Bluejay Invite and do some comparisons
Coleman Clark ran 11:44 there in 2016 and finished his freshman year with a 16:39 PB
Mason Sumner ran 11:12 there in 2017 and placed 6th at MIS with a 16:23
Kenny Lewis ran 10:44 in 2019 and broke the elusive 17:00 as a freshman last year
His 16:21 at MMOC proved he can race at the additional distance
And the 10th place finish at AAU Nationals in December prove that he can race when faced with competition
He didn’t get the opportunity to lay down a fast 3200m in track, but his cross performances were so dominating and rated so highly that he’s included here
As with Whalen, his ratings correspond almost directly to Hunter Jones
Where: St. Francis Retreat Center, hosted by Lansing Catholic. Michigan Catholic is run here, along with a few other races. From what I understand, the course has some turns and hills. A welcome respite from all the flat, fast regions. Michigan Catholic always runs slow, but that’s to be expected early in the season. My expectation is this will be one of the tougher regional courses.

Not sure if you’ve heard, but Hart has had a somewhat successful cross program over the past few years
Audrianna has been a major help and has stepped up big at the State level
She’s been either the 2nd or 3rd girl on their last three State title squads, and looks to be in place to do that again
On any other team, she’d be the standout top runner, as she’s broken 19:00 many times, and even won Region 20 in 2019
On the track as a freshman, she was able to show some 800m prowess and that continued this past spring, as she equaled her 7th place finish in 2019
And lowered her personal best from 2:21 to 2:18
His MMOC race tells it all – he can hang with the big dogs
Normally you don’t have a 5k time and it’s difficult to assess middle school comparisons as I feel there’s an even greater gap between high achievers and the rest of the field
A 16:19 there, racing alongside the likes of Jacob Harberts, Ryan O’Rourke, Seth Norder, runners that will and have been in the mix
Kilian backed it up on the track as well, attaining victory in all his middle school races, and running a respectable 9:57 while not being challenged (my guess is he had a ~9:40 in him, just judging by similar times from the athletes he competed against in that 5k)
As far as middle school cross ratings go, his closest comparison from the past two years is: Hunter Jones.
