  • Benne is a mystery to me and improvements such as his are why I do these things
  • His freshman year was all over the place – a 16:20 to close out the year at Benzie, a 20:30 at Spartan
  • We didn’t get a track season, so outside of the Ottawa Hills circle, who would’ve known what he’d blossom into?
  • His fall was much more consistent and his efforts steadily increased until a PB of 16:05 at MIS
  • The same happened in the spring, where he showed 1600/3200m ability, once again at a consistent level of sub 4:35/10:00
  • The formula for this list weighed XC and the 3200m equally, and he’s here largely because of his 9:21 at the CAT
    • And we know that wasn’t a fluke either, as evidenced by the 9:25 on that windy night at Shepherd
  • I look forward to seeing if he can continue on this upward trajectory

  • Presley steps into the high school foray as first and foremost, a winner
  • She hasn’t lost a race since October 2019, an 18 race winning streak
  • Her times might not be as fast as other incoming freshmen, but you wonder what she could do if she were pushed in a race
  • In those 18 victories are numerous championship honors:
    • 2 St. Joseph County XC titles
    • 3 SW10 Track Titles
    • 2 MHSAA Regional Track titles
  • Peeking at Mendon’s calendar, the first larger invitational they’ll be at will be Otsego, hopefully we get a glimpse of where she’s at before then
