The Rundown

She’s been out there since 5th grade, steadily movin’ up and steadily makin’ her presence known. When I say that previous sentence, I mean it, as Natalie has improved each and every season.

Coming into high school, she was someone that looked to be a contributor, but not to the level she is today. Where is she at today? All-State. Top-5 in the TVC, Saginaw County, and Region 15. Holder of a Frankenmuth school record with her 4×8 girls. Top-35 returner in terms of 1600m and 3200m times. She’s learned from one of the best in Mary Richmond, now it’s time to keep the Eagle red at the front of D2 races.

The Rundown

I always love doing the Brighton writeups as I just can mosey on our over to their thorough website, click on the captains page, and read about their top runners. It’s telling when a fast runner is named a captain, because then you know they’re a consummate teammate and leader besides just having wheels. Learning more about Tyler, I’m not at all shocked that a mentor who’s in Interact and Boy Scouts is revered by his teammates and coaches.

When he’s not busy being a solid presence in the Brighton community, Brock is improving by leaps and bounds in his running. These gains have come in the course of a season, such as a freshman year where he sliced nearly 6 min. off his debut time. Or in his career, where another 3 min. were erased from that freshman best to now. Junior varsity at Regionals his first two years to 9th as a junior. Running in ovals, from 10:36 as a 9th grader to 9:29 in May.

Need I go on? I see no sign of this trend stopping.

Alex Tyndall

Had a late start to cross, but still hung tough enough to find his way to a State medal for the first time ever. Watch out when he gets a full season, you may get something like track, where he raced to a 9:30 3200m at Bluejay and a 2nd place in the same event at State.

Colebrook Sutherland

In 2022 we saw the promise, in 2023 we saw his true self. NWC Champion, 2nd place here, and 9th spot in D4. The Drowns keep growing the Laker squad and making it more powerful from within.

Kyle Redman

Seemingly made for the high school stage, picking up wins in the WMD Conference and here in Region 29. This past spring, his 9:55 3200m ranked #15 among all the freshmen in the state.

Mason Sinke

Work over the winter paid dividends come outdoor, where his 1600m PR dropped from 4:47 to 4:31 and his 3200m from 10:27 to 9:50.

Ty Redman

Kyle’s counterpart, impressive in his own right, finishing 12th in Division 4 and moving to a 15:59 personal best attained here in this race.

Callie Sinke

Making an exception to my “rarely writing about incoming freshmen” philosophy. Because when you run 18:29 here at the PROM race and 18:49 at Shepherd, it’s obvious you have great odds of becoming a frontrunner at the high school level.

Ella Knudsen

Leland career has included two All-States and three top-5’s here. The last of which was a massive 19:09 personal best.

Addy Zeller

Was on a tear following Portage, hitting sub-21 in six of her final seven races. One of those was a 3rd place finish here.

Addison Patrzik

Freshman year saw gradual progress toward a sub-21 here at Regionals, a 12th place that earned another week of competing.

Brooklynn Frazee

We know her as a sprinter in the spring, but many would love to have her fall resume. Two top-7 finishes here at the regional level.
